In a big win for Queensland Distillers, the 2024 Australian Distillers Association Conference will be held in Brisbane at the RNA Showgrounds. This will be a great opportunity to showcase Queensland's top shelf craft spirits.

In the QDA June professional development seminar, we'll be hearing from Dominique Lamb, QLD Small Business Commissioner. The seminar will be hosted via Microsoft Teams, which can be downloaded at the link below:

The Queensland Government is in the process of updating its Craft Brewing Strategy (including renaming the strategy to include distillers), and you should have recently received a survey to provide input. This represents a great opportunity to have our voice as an industry heard, including the common goals that we’ve been working on as the QDA.

As a refresher, here are some of the key points QDA has been advocating for with the QLD government.

Please make sure you take the opportunity the survey provides, including sharing how the above points can support your own business to grow, provide more employment and contribute to the QLD economy.

As part of our engagement as the QDA, we are wanting to build a stock of VIP gifts. This will enable QDA committee members lobbying government and industry to offer VIP gifts as goodwill. Grandad Jack's Distillery has generously volunteered to store and prepare VIP gifts using bottles donated by members around the state.

Some great news for one of our QDA foundation members over the weekend! Tamborine Mountain Distillery has won the 'Brandy of the Year' Award at the 2023 London Spirits Competition.

General Manager (and QDA committee member), Gordon Chalmers, described it as a very humbling experience as there were over 4,000 entries from over 80 countries taking part.
